"If you love real ales, don't miss this!"

Aylesbury Beer Festival

2017 sees the Festival move to a new venue at the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, on Friday 27th October and Saturday 28th October.

The 2016 Aylesbury Vale Beer Festival entertained and lubricated over 450 people over the two days of the Festival. The event made a fantastic £4,100 for the Hospice with drinkers on the Saturday buying a record number of pints: 1011 just on that day!

The Saturday Sausage Festival was also a sizzling success, with over 200 sausages being consumed and the new and exclusive Florence Nightingale Sausage was a big hit, with customers to Kings Farm Shop making it a special request when buying from Kings Farm Shop itself after the event.

About the Beer Festival

The Aylesbury Beer Festival offers real ale fans a chance to try new local beers and some award-winning ales and ciders from further afield. Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity works in conjunction with the experts at CAMRA in selecting the ales and ciders on offer, and all are carefully vetted and quality controlled by real ale aficionados.

If you have a favourite ale that you think deserves a wider audience, let us know and we'll add it to the candidate list! Otherwise, just come down on Friday 27th October 2017 between 6pm and 11pm for some serious sampling and discussion as well as a barbecue courtesy of the Aylesbury Lions and share the experience with like-minded souls in search of the perfect real ale!

Or bring the family on Saturday 28th October 2017 from 11am to 11pm when there will be live music, hot food and, of course, plenty of real ales, ciders and perries to try.

Feed your family at the Saturday Sausage Festival

We are delighted to welcome back Kings Farm Shop, Wendover who will provide barbecued sausages in a bun from 11am-7pm on the Saturday. They'll be bringing eight gourmet sausages - including the exclusive Florence Nightingale Sausage! Plus there will be guest sausages from K&B Butchers in Princes Risborough, the Parrott Brothers at Beechmoor Farm in Whitchurch and Manor Farm in Hoggeston.

Hungry sausage fans can choose from:
  • Wendover Royals: the signature Kings Farm sausage with pork, herbs and peppers.
  • Honey Roast: a slightly sweet, plain pork sausage. The kids’ favourite.
  • Chilli and Garlic: Not too spicy but will keep you warm.
  • Lamb Curry: Want your Saturday curry in a roll? All the flavour of a curry but not too hot.
  • Pumpkin: Pork and pumpkin for our nod to Halloween.
  • NEW: Hog n Hop
  • NEW: Venison
  • The Florence Sausage: this exclusive sausage made only for FNHC will be back at the Beer Festival! An Italian inspired sausage (Florence – geddit?) made with pork, fennel, black pepper and parsley with a hint of garlic and chilli.

New for 2017: Introducing the Guest Sausage! Throughout Saturday, we will be highlighting the best sausages from local sausage specialists K&B Butchers in Princes Risborough, the Parrott Brothers at Beechmoor Farm in Whitchurch and Morris of Hoggeston – featuring a new one every couple of hours. So make sure you are hungry!

A sausage in a bun is £2.50 – please buy your tokens at the main desk when you arrive.

Saturday Night Food

Local caterer Alena Winter will be providing the sustenance for the Saturday evening. She is planning classic tummy fillers including a Chicken Curry, Chilli con Carne and a Vegetable Lasagne. Make sure you leave room to sample her food – it’s delicious! Alena is volunteering all her time both for the food preparation in advance and helping to serve on the night. What a star!

Live Music

On Saturday, there'll be live music from local bands including:

  • Deja Vu - with a blend of pop and harmony tunes from all decades, with 40 years experience of playing together.
  • Ukolade - a ukulele-led band playing classic pop, jazz and folk. The front line of ukuleles is backed by guitar, bass, drums, flute and harmonica with harmony vocals. There are also a few 'strange' musical instruments to look out for!
  • Rock Covers - playing rock and roll music from the 50s and 60s.
  • Milk - Wendover-based band performing their own songs, as well as some covers from the likes of Mac Demarco and Alex Calder.

Fun for the kids!

There'll be fun for all the family on Saturday during the day. There'll be kids' activities with a Halloween theme between 11am and 6pm. Soft drinks and snacks will be on sale all day and most kids love sausages, so why not get your little experts to give their verdict on the flavours on offer at the Sausage Festival? Children get free entry to the Aylesbury Beer Festival.

When is it?

  • Friday 27th October - 6pm-11pm
  • Saturday 28th October - 11am-11pm
