Colour Rush - Your questions answered

Can Under 5s do the main 5k course?

Yes they can, but they must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and the safety and welfare of the child is the responsibility of that adult.

What times are the Mini-Rushes?

The morning Mini-Rush takes place at 10.30am. The afternoon Mini-Rush takes place at 1.30pm.

If I'm under 18 can I do the Colour Rush without my parents?

Everyone under the age of 16 needs to have parental/guardian consent to sign up for the Colour Rush.

Those aged 12 and under must have parental/guardian consent AND run/walk with a responsible adult over the age of 18 who must also register for the Colour Rush.

Those aged 13-15 can run/walk on their own but MUST have a responsible adult over the age of 18 in attendance AT THE VENUE – this person does not have to register for the Colour Rush or take part.

Anyone aged 16 or over can do the event without a responsible adult in attendance if they wish.

If I accompany my child in the Mini-Rush, do I have to register and pay?

No. Adults accompanying children in the Mini-Rush do not have to pay or register, but adults entering the main 5k event do need to register, and ideally raise some sponsorship as well.

How long is the Mini-Rush?

The Mini-Rush is 1.5km.

If my child is doing the Mini-Rush, will they get a T-shirt and pair of sunglasses?

No, Mini-Rushers get a medal but no T-shirt or sunglasses, so please make sure you bring sunglasses for them, or bring some cash as sunglasses will be available to purchase on the day. Also, make sure they wear clothing that can be covered in colour. The powder is mostly washable but can stain on some fabrics, so don't risk ruining new or favourite clothes!

Can I take a pushchair or a wheelchair?

Sorry - no. The course is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

What is the coloured powder made of?

The coloured powder is a natural corn-starch dyed with food and cosmetic grade colourings and is manufactured especially to be thrown at people in this kind of event. It is non-toxic, non-hazardous and completely biodegradable.

Is there parking at the event?

Parking is limited on site - we therefore ask if you live locally to consider leaving your car at home or join forces and car-share with your fellow Colour Rushers. Click here for details and a map of additional parking which has been generously permitted by organisations in Aston Clinton but we do ask you to allow time to park and walk. The road leading to Green Park (Stablebridge Road) is strictly a "no parking" zone.

What equipment do you get in the Runner Pack?

After registration on the day all participants in the Colour Rush over the age of 5 will be given a running pack which includes a pristine white Colour Rush T-shirt (shouldn’t be white when you cross the finish line!), a runner number and safety pins to attach it to the front of your T-shirt, neon sunglasses (must be worn when entering colour stations), a bag of coloured powder for the end-of-run celebration and a polythene poncho to keep your car clean when travelling home.

Are dogs allowed?

Sorry - no. Due to the nature of the event, it is not suitable for dogs.

Can friends and family come and watch?

Most definitely, yes!

Can I volunteer to help at the event on the day ?

Yes please! Please email fundraising@fnhospice.org.uk and we'll let you know how you can help us.

Do I need to raise sponsorship?

Yes please. Unlike commercial Colour Rush events, the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity Colour Rush is organised to help us raise money for the work of the Florence Nightingale Hospice. Without the money raised by our fundraising events, we could not fund essential services such as the Day Hospice, Florrie's Children's Team, the Lymphoedema Clinic and much more. So please do raise as much as you can!

Any adult who raises over £150 will receive their entry fee back in recognition of their significant contribution to the Hospice.
