"Last year we supported 1,500 patients in the local area"

Midnight Walk sponsorship is essential for hospice care

Jul 3, 2017

Saturday 24th June once more saw a river of light flow along the streets of Aylesbury as nearly 500 women dressed in pink T-shirts and flashing bunny ears took on the challenge of walking the 6-mile or 13-mile route overnight for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s Midnight Walk.

Many of those donning flashing bunny ears for the Hospice do it to say thank you to the Florence Nightingale Hospice teams, and to make sure that others can benefit from the compassion and comfort they give at a time of grief and pain for patients and their families.

So far, Walkers have raised just over £40,000 – but the target is £50,000.

“This was a magical night and we are so grateful to all the Midnight Walkers for participating and creating such a wonderful atmosphere,” said Jo Turner, Head of Fundraising at Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity. “We won’t know for a few weeks how successful it has been for the Hospice, but it’s so important to get as many people to sponsor Walkers as possible, because enabling the Hospice to provide care to patients is what it is all about.”

Cat Jelly, a Staff Nurse at Florence Nightingale Hospice, helped to register the Midnight Walkers on Saturday evening. “I would just like to say an amazing THANK YOU to all the amazing people that did the Midnight Walk last night and who helped out. You are all truly amazing and made me realise the fantastic work we do at the Hospice.”
