It takes a special person…to walk all night for the Hospice

In 2018, the Midnight Walk will change in two important ways. We asked the public whether they would like the event to be opened out to men and boys as well as women and girls. 80% of the respondents to our survey said men should be allowed to take part and so the 2018 Midnight Walk will be open to anyone over the age of 11 on the 23rd June.

We will also be changing the route and the distance in 2018. 54% of respondents to our research said they would prefer a choice of five miles or ten miles, and so we have decided to trial these distances. The route is at the planning stages, but it will still include the pitstop and the best toilets on the route at the Waterside Theatre.

The next Midnight Walk for Florence Nightingale Hospice will take place on 23 June 2018, starting and finishing at Aylesbury College. Click here to register for the Midnight Walk.

It takes a special person…to confront a life-limiting or terminal illness, your own or a loved one’s, with courage and dignity.

That’s what we see every day at Florence Nightingale Hospice. It also takes special people to comfort those who are dying, to manage their pain, and to care for them in their last years, months and days. You will find these people at Florence Nightingale Hospice, taking care of patients, and also consoling and reassuring their families.

We are honoured that over the years hundreds of special women have taken on the physical and mental challenge of the Midnight Walk each year to raise money to enable the Florence Nightingale Hospice nurses, staff and volunteers to continue their work, at the Hospice and in patients’ homes. This year, we hope they will be joined by husbands, brothers, uncles, fathers, sons and friends, as the event is opened to men and boys as well.

It's a 5 mile or 10 mile circular walk starting at midnight on Saturday 23 June. Starting and finishing at Aylesbury College, Oxford Road, Aylesbury, the event opens at 10pm for registration, with the official start being at midnight, and most Walkers finishing by 5am on Sunday morning. Before you register, please click here to look at the Midnight Walk FAQs if you have any questions.
