Sara Whitfield, daughter of Sue Peck, one of the members of the Florence Nightingale Haddenham Community Support Group (HCSG), arranged the signing of a cricket bat, in conjunction with her friend Michael Holding (Ex-West Indies fast bowler and Sky Sports Commentator), to raise funds for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity.

The signings all happened during the Royal London One Day International between England and South Africa on Saturday 27th May 2017 at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton. The bat was given to Michael Holding at the beginning of play and by the close of play he had obtained as many signatures of ex-cricket players as was possible on the day.

The full list of signatures on the bat in order from top to bottom is:

  • Michael Vaughan
  • Geoffrey Boycott
  • Ian Botham
  • Michael Holding
  • Shaun Pollock
  • Shane Warne
  • Michael Atherton
  • Ian Ward
  • Nasser Hussain
  • Mike Gatting

The HCSG arranged a prize draw, which raised £500. The draw was made at the Florence Nightingale Fashion Show in Haddenham on 27 September 2018, which also raised almost £900 for the Hospice. The lucky winner was Sue Michell from Haddenham.
