We are searching for hosts to run Coffee Mornings in villages & towns across Buckinghamshire in 2019 to help us celebrate 30 years since the opening of Florence Nightingale Hospice – can you help?

Coffee Mornings have long been a staple of our fundraising, ever since the initial campaign to get the Hospice opened back in the late 1980s.

To mark 30 years of the Hospice, we are launching our Pyramid of Coffee Mornings on Saturday 27th April with our first Coffee Morning, in memory of our first Hospice Matron, Karen Henderson, at our Walton Street office from 10am – 1pm.

We hope that some of the attendees will go on to host their own coffee mornings, and attendees at these will host their own and so on as the Pyramid grows over the year and across the county.

How can I get involved?

Anyone can hold a coffee morning, whether at home, at work, in the gym or your local community centre – which can raise money for vital hospice care in Buckinghamshire.

All you need to do is;

  • Pick a date
  • Find a venue
  • Invite your friends and family
  • Return any money raised to Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity

How can a Coffee Morning raise money for the Hospice?

  • Ask for an Entry Donation
  • Charge for the drinks
  • Have a bake sale as part of your event
  • Hold a Raffle or Tombola – ask each guest to bring one item to the party (maybe even something bought from a Florence Nightingale Hospice Shop!) and use the items for the raffle or tombola.

If your Coffee Morning raises £50, this will cover the cost of the daily Afternoon Tea in the In-Patient Unit, which means so much to patients and their visitors.

“Having a cup of tea and cake served at 3.00pm was a blessing.”

How will the Charity support you?

Contact Sophie or Simon on 01296 429 975 or email if you need any help.

We can help you come up with some fun ideas for additional fundraising and help in getting more people along to your event.

Coffee Mornings normally provide a choice of hot drinks and cakes and biscuits.

The host would usually provide the hot drinks and then a selection of home-made or shop-made cakes and biscuits.

Some Coffee Morning Hosts may ask their guests to bring along cakes and biscuits.

Yes, of course.

Many of our Coffee Mornings are run by groups of friends or colleagues - this can be a great way to get more people along to your event.

You can decide how to run your own event, depending what works best for you and your attendees.

You could;

  • Charge an entry fee
  • Charge per drink and cake
  • Simply ask for donations

If you want to make your event raise even more money you could;

  • Run a raffle or tombola - you can source prizes by approaching local businesses or ask your guests to bring an item to add to the raffle or tombola
  • If you've space - ask local arts or crafts people or beauty therapists if they would like a space at the event to sell or provide treatments and charge them for the space.
  • If you're running a Coffee Morning at work, ask your company if they will match fund the amount raised.
For more ideas of what might work at your event, contact Sophie or Simon on 01296 429 975 or email
After your event you can return the amount raised by;
  • Bringing the cash or cheque to our offices at Unit 2, Walton Lodge, Walton St, Aylesbury, HP21 7QY
  • Dropping a cheque into any of our Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity shops.
  • Making an online payment through our Pyramid of Coffee Morning donations page.
Please mark any donations 'Pyramid of Coffee Mornings' and include your contact name and address.
